School Newsletters

Students of Grade 7 create, edit and publish a newsletter by the 15^th of every month which provides an overview of all the events that were conducted in school every month.

Newspaper in Education(NiE): The Deens Academy is part of the ‘The Times Newspaper in Education Programme’ (NIE), an award-winning initiative by India’s leading national daily, The Times of India. With a twelve-page special students’ edition that is circulated everyday and the motto of ‘learning through fun’, The Times NIE Programme hopes to instil the newspaper reading habit in students and give school education an added dimension. The programme hosts a variety of activities for students from math and science workshops to a school reporter programme and career planning expertise. By being part of this initiative, we hope our students can hone their reading, writing and spelling skills as well as keep abreast with current happenings and world events.

Newspaper in Education(Deccan Herald): The Deens Academy has also tied up with the Deccan Herald’s Newspaper in Education program, called DHiE (Deccan Herald in Education) which will inform and enlighten our students and thus supplement the work of the teachers. The school edition newspaper, given to all the students of grades 4 and 5, provides articles and features covering diverse aspects such as national news, international events, school news, life skills articles, contributions from students, teachers and principals, syllabus based mentoring, science and technology, counseling columns, health related issues, stories, interviews with young achievers, sports, comics, quizzes, etc. Apart from inculcating a habit of reading newspapers, it also provides a platform for students to showcase their writing skills as they welcome articles from students! Nominated students will also get to participate in inter-school events such as quiz, group dance, painting, short story writing, etc. organized during the year by Deccan Herald.
